Some women at the New Destiny cooperative are vision-impaired and cannot operate the sewing machines. They decided that making recycled-paper bead necklaces would enable them to contribute to the community's needs.

During the genocide in 1994, many people were blinded by tear gas. The women at New Destiny who are blind are unable to participate in the sewing project.  One day they sat out on the grass and brainstormed together to think of what they could do.  Necklace making is what they decided upon as a project that would enable them to work along side their friends and contribute to the income of the community.

This is a success story! In the middle of March we delivered the funds needed to begin this project. Stay tuned for news of how it is implemented!
